In den letzten Wochen ist viel passiert. Wir hatten seit Norwegen fast durchgehend Besuch und kommen daher etwas in Verzug mit unseren Reiseberichten. Daher nun ein Überblick.
Auf dem Weg in den Norden legten wir einen Stopp in Newcastle ein und erlebten hautnah das englische Nachtleben.
The last weeks were pretty busy and since Norway we´re having guests almost constantly. That´s why we´re a bit on a delay.
Along the coast we drove to Newcastle and jumped directly into its nightlife.
Entlang der Küste ging es dann ins schottische Städchen Edinburgh, wo wir Stefan und Felix am 07.09. am Flughafen abholten und uns zweit Tage die Stadt anschauten. Dort machten wir auch die Bekanntschaft mit Margo, die mit ihrer Band durch England tourt.
Further we went on to Edinburgh where we picked up Stefan and Felix. We visited the city, met Margo and her band and decided to stay another day to see her playing in a nice little music club.
Weiter ging es durch die wunderschönen schottischen Highlands auf dem Single Malt Whisky Trail wo wir uns die Destillerie von Glenfiddich anschauten. Am Lochindorb verbrachten wir einen sonnigen Nachmittag bevor wir weiter über Inverness und das Loch Ness in Richtung Isle of Skye fuhren.
The next dstination were the amazing Highlands. Along the Single Malt Whisky Trail we visited the destillery of Glennfiddich. The next day we spent some hours at the Lochindorb before heading the isle of Skye via Inverness and Loch Ness.
Durchweg hatten wir viel Glück mit dem Wetter. Kleinere Regenschauer gehören in Schottland ja auch dazu.
Auf der Isle of Skye schauten wir uns die Old Men of Storr, die Kilt Cliffs und die Destillerie von Talisker an.
On the isle of Skye we went for a hike to the Old men of Storr, the Kilt Cliffs and the destillery of Talisker.
Auf Islay haben wir einen Tagesausflug unternommen. Eine spannende und aufschlussreiche Führung bei Laphraoig und eine kleine Whiskyverkostung im Wohnzimmer von Lagavulin waren die Highlights.
Glencoe
Afterwards we went for a day trip to Isla. On a beatiful day we had a really great tour through the Laphroig destillery and a whisky tasting in the living room of Lagavulin.
Unsere Route führte uns dann weiter in den Süden, vorbei an Loch Lommond, der den Übergang der Highlands in die Lowlands markiert. Über Glasgow ging es dann weiter zur Fähre nach Nordirland.
Further south we visited Lochlommond which marks the transition from the Highlands to the Lowlands. For dinner we stopped in Glasgow before we moved on to the ferry to Northern Ireland.
Am 16.09. sind wir früh morgens mit der Fähre nach Larne übergesetzt und haben uns direkt auf den Weg entlang der Ostküste nach Bushmills gemacht. Auch hier haben wir eine etwas andere Führung durch die Destillerie erlebt bevor wir uns den Giant’s Causeway mit seinen besonderen, sechseckigen Felsformationen angeschaut haben.
Early in the morning on september the 16th we took the ferry to Larne. We went to the very north of Northern Ireland an visited the Bushmills destillery to learn about the differences between scottish and irish whiskies. Afterwards we explored the Giant´s Causeway with its interesting rocks.
Auf dem Weiterweg nach Dublin sind wir durch die Dark Hedges gefahren. Um 17 Uhr waren wir mit Phil bei Guinnes für einen Rundgang und einen etwas tieferen Einblick in die Rösterei (und ins Glas) verabredet.
The next day we went through the Dark Hedges to Dublin where we met Phil (again) for a visit in the Guiness brewery.
Nachdem wir am Samstagmorgen Felix zum Flughafen gebracht haben, sind wir nochmal nach Dublin und schauen nun wie es weitergeht.
On the early saturday morning we dropped Felix at the airport and went back to Dublin. We´ll see what happens next 🙂
