Das hier ist der erste Beitrag zu einer Reihe von Artikeln über die schönen Dinge in und um Stuttgart. Dabei wird hier kein Anspruch auf Vollständigkeit erhoben, „Schön und Unschön“ liegt zu sehr im Auge des Betrachters.
Ich bin gern draussen unterwegs, das wird sich hier wiederspiegeln. Obwohl ich erst seit Oktober 2017 in Stuttgart wohne, kenne ich mich immer besser aus. Das habe ich auch einer sehr tollen und vielseitigen Einführung zu verdanken.

I like being outside and that is what you will realize reading my posts. Even though I live in Stuttgart just since October 2017, I get to know the city and its surrounding better and better. Thanks to a beautiful and versatile introduction to the city.
Rotenberg liegt im Osten von Stuttgart, auf der anderen Seite des Neckars, oben in den Weinbergen, direkt am Waldrand. Es ist ein wundervoller Ort zum spazieren, joggen und die Aussicht zu genießen. Auf der Egelseer Heide am Waldrand, gibt es eine große Wiese mit Grillplätzen und vielen Möglichkeiten sich zu bewegen.
Rotenberg is located east of Stuttgart on the other side of the Neckar. It is beautifully situated in the vineyards on the hills. From there you can start beautiful hikes through the woods, go for a run or just enjoy the view. There is als a huge field, the Egelseer Heide, where you can have a BBQ.
Man läuft circa 4 km zum Kernenturm. Der Aussichtsturm wurde 1896 errichtet und ist 27m hoch. Er liegt 513m über dem Meeresspiegel und bietet einen tollen Rundum-Blick. Dort gibt es auch ein Kiosk, für die kleine Stärkung zwischendurch.
With a 4km walk through the woods, you can reach the Kernenturm. This tower was built in 1896 and of 27m hight. Up there you have a beautiful view of the surrounding area. There is also a small kiosk, if you run out of power.
Bevor man sich wieder zurück ins Tal macht, lohnt auf jeden Fall ein Besuch der Grabkapelle in Rotenberg. Die Grabkapelle liegt direkt auf dem Gipfel des Württemberg (416m). Das Mausoleum wurde für Katharina Pawlowna (1788–1819) errichtet, die zweite Frau Wilhelms I. von Württemberg (1781–1864). König Wilhelm I. und ihre gemeinsame Tochter sind ebenfalls dort bestattet.
Neben dem eindrucksvollen Bauwerk, hat man auch einen tollen Blick auf Stuttgart Wangen, Bad Cannstatt und den Fernsehturm. (siehe Titelbild)
Before heading down again, you should visit the Grabkapelle in Rotenberg. this mausoleum was built for Katharina Pawlowna (1788–1819), the second wife of König Wilhelm I. von Württemberg (1781–1864). He and their daughter are buried there as well.
It is a stunning building on top of the Württemberg (416m) from where you can have a ice view over Stuttgart Wangen, Bad Cannstatt and the Fernsehturm.
