Travelling Europe: Nordschweden

Abisko, Kebnekaise, Jokkmokk, Luleå

Nachdem wir Yvonne und Matthias am Flughafen in Lekknes auf den Lofoten rausgelassen haben sind wir relativ direkt Richtung Abisko in Nordschweden aufgebrochen, wo wir auch abends ankamen. Am Dienstag (18.06.) haben wir uns mit den Rädern und per Wanderung die nähere Umgebung angeschaut und sind anschließend weiter nach Nikkaluokta.

After dropping off Yvonne and Matthias at the airport in Lekknes, we took the straight route to Abisko in the north of sweden. The next day we experienced the surrounding area by bike and foot. It was a enjoyable afternoon in the woods and the lake Torneträsk. Afterwards we drove to Nikkaluokta to sleep there.

 

Kebne

Am Ende der Straße liegt Nikkaluokta. Von hier aus geht es nur noch zu Fuß weiter.

At the end of the road is Nikkaluokta. Where the road ends, the journey begins.

 

Am Mittwochvormittag sind wir die 19 Kilometer zur Fjällstation (Bergstation) des Kebnekeise gewandert.

Wednesday morning. 19 km to the Fjällstation from where the actual ascent starts.

Wir wollten noch ein Stück weiter um etwas näher an den Gipfel zu kommen. Außerdem war es um die Bergstation relativ „dicht besiedelt“, was es zwei Kilometer weiter nicht mehr war.

We wanted to get a bit closer to the peak and did not want to sleep to close to the „crowded“ mountain station.

 

4.00 Uhr aufstehen, frühstücken, los…

In einem Reisebericht im Internet wurde der Aufstieg treffend als Fleißarbeit beschrieben.

The ascent was described as hard, steep, rocky and not really beautiful. That was precise.

 

Neun Kilometer und vier Stunden später waren wir oben, alleine 🙂

9 km and 4 hours later we reached the lonely top 🙂

 

Ausblick genießen und freuen. Wahnsinn!!! Und jedes Geröllfeld wert.

Abstieg zum Zelt, zusammenpacken und weiter ins Tal… puhh… nicht ohne.

Decend to the tent, remove and pack everything, further decent back to car in the valley.

 

Donnerstagabends sind wir noch bis Gällivare gefahren und haben dort übernachtet.

Freitags haben wir uns das Samizentrum Jokkmokk angeschaut, nach zwei Wochen den Polarkreis verlassen und uns abends noch Luleå angeschaut. Oh, ein Musikfestival, oh umsonst… na dann…

Thursday night we drove further to Gällivare to spend the night there. Friday morning we went to Jokkmokk, the swedish center of Sami culture and in the afternoon to Luleå where got surprised by a music festival at the seaside.
